About Me
My name is Michael Bennett, and I am a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC), a National Certified Counselor (NCC), and a Certified Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapist.

My work with trauma began as a provider and agency director at a non-profit child abuse agency in Tennessee. It is here where I gained insight into the pervasive harm of trauma as it impacts society, communities, families, and individuals. Later, while working at a trauma-informed counseling center, my work focused on providing specialized trauma treatment while supporting clients from socially, culturally, and spiritually diverse backgrounds who had a variety of co-occurring severe mental health experiences which intersected with the complexities of their trauma. Here I learned the necessity of not just integrated culture and spirituality into the therapy process, but emphasizing them as a foundation from which strengths and values can be drawn to foster post traumatic growth and to achieve life goals.

Trauma interrupts healthy growth and development, and the path to reconnecting safely in relationships and having meaningful life experiences can feel lonely and painful. What better journey for having a companion along the way.

Within the counseling session, my goal is to create a safe environment and provide support so clients can challenge traumatic narratives, unhealthy thoughts and behaviors, and take steps towards healing and transformation.
